Make way for The Penguin!

Hey, planet Earth; guess what? Sometime in early May 2009, you’re going to have to make room for one more.

That’s right; Carolyn and I are having a baby! Woohoo!

Project codename “penguin” is now public knowledge, and we’re ever so excited. Ely is studying all the baby books, and Romilly can’t wait to be a big sister.

It’s been a while, but this family is ready to grow just a little more.

  1. Let’s see — you emailed me on the 24th and we’ve now known each other for 10+ years. You couldn’t have let me know just two days early?!

Only joking, I know how these things work. 🙂 Congratulations on your exciting news, it’s absolutely fantastic. I have complete faith that the two of you will give your “penguin” all the love and care that they need, and that you will continue to be the excellent parents that you both already are.

Just one small correction… There will be two additions to planet Earth in May 2009! My sister (former member of the ESC) and her husband are also having their baby then. 🙂

  2. Sorry, Ez; even you didn’t have clearance on this one 🙂 We had to wait until the girls knew first, and we wanted to wait a while before doing that. Believe me, we really wanted to tell people before now.

Congratulations to your sister too; I’m sure that will be a big change for her. Children, despite all the work, stress, and turmoil, are worth every second.

  3. Congrats guys!!! Hope the months til May pass without incident or illness… I would suggest not asking me what being 6.5 months preggo is like… 😀

And as an aside can you tell me (by e-mail)how I can get in touch with Ezra ? Ta

  4. Thanks, Tara 🙂

At 6.5 months, aren’t you’re supposed to be telling us all how wonderful it feels to be pregnant? That’s what all the books say 🙂

(Ezra The Hermit’s email address has been forwarded)
    (Sorry, Ez 🙂 )

  5. Hey, this cave is starting to get crowded…! Human contact is however turning out to be rather nice 🙂

  6. Let me also just state that my “cave” address and phone numbers remain the same for all those interested parties who are reading! My family *were* planning on moving, but with the current housing market we could not sell our house. So we are staying here for the forseeable future. I still live NOR, and you all still live SOR. 🙂

  7. Congratulations Leon! All the best to yourself and Carolyn.

We really should get a reunion of the old gang together. At the rate we’re all breeding, it will likely turn into more play date than reunion, but it would be good to catch up with everyone again.

  8. Thanks Russ. It has certainly been a long time since we all got together, so it probably is easier to count in collective children than in years.

Anyone reading want to volunteer a time and place? Sometime before May 2009 might be good 🙂

(and yes, Ezra, you’re still the odd one out… in the nicest possible way, of course 🙂 )

  9. Of course Leon :-), although in all seriousness I would swap every manner of nifty electronic toys to enjoy what all of you enjoy with your families in a heartbeat.

Count me in for any get-together in the near or far future. I’m guessing I’m the one travelling south yes?! No problem about the play date, it’s still a lovely thing to get to know everyone else’s children, and all the kids seem to have turned out pretty well so far. 🙂

  10. As the mother of Carolyn, I cannot be more pleased for her and Leon. My husband John and I are both extremely happy that Carolyn and Elysha have found such an honest, caring and loving person in Leon. We are looking forward to the arrival of “Penguin”, let’s hope they choose a sensible name, remembering that the child has to live with it for the rest of it’s life. ( We are a bit worried.) We have our name down for babysitting duties already.

  11. As the other Nanna of Penquin, I’m equally as thrilled as everyone else, as so is GranPa. The other two young males in the family aren’t doing anything to increase the family, so it’s great that Leon is. And he’s done really well in joining up with Carolyn, who is very welcome to the family…
There’s going to be plenty of names on that babysitting list so you’d better make the most of it.

  12. Congratulations Leon…wishing you all the best.
My brood has recently grown to 4…but that will be the end of it now!!
Best of luck for a healthy pregnancy/birth.
